India – Indepence from Britain is led by Mohandas Gandhi. He leads the Indian people through a series of non-violent protests (civil disobedience). You should know about the Salt March, hunger strikes, and boycott on British clothing.

Turkey – Kemal Ataturk led a nationalist movement in Turkey in which he modernized Turkey and made it more like western Europe.

Mexico – Mexico in 1900 was ruled by autocrat Porfirio Diaz. Revolutionaries Emiliano Zapata and Pancho Villa led a rvolt against Diaz which turned into a civil war and eventually left Mexico with a new republican government.

China – Chiang Kai Shek led a naitonalist movement in China with the support of his political party, the Guomandong. They would fight a civil war against the communist forces of Mao Zedong. Mao's forces would end up winning the war and turning China into a communist state. The Guomandong were exiled to Taiwan.
