The French Revolution

The French Revolution

Robespierre being executed marks the end of the Reign of Terror.

Robespierre being executed marks the end of the Reign of Terror. He took the Revolution too far and is responsible for the deaths of thousands of French citizens. (unknown, Bibliothèque nationale de France)

The causes of the French Revolution are monarchy abuses, Enlightenment ideas, the American Revolution, and taxes on the 3rd Estate. (MEAT)

The French Revolution starts off moderately but turns radical quickly. The Reign of Terror = Robespierre chopping heads off anyone who wasn’t radical enough.

Napoleon ends the French Revolution by becoming emperor and taking over Europe (Similar to Hitler!!) A he conquers Europe he spreads democratic ideals and people all over Europe want freedoms from their absolute monarchs.

Major effect of the French Revolution was nationalism or extreme pride in one’s nation. People started to be loyal to their nation, not their king.

Napoleon was defeated for good at the Battle of Wasterloo. Afterwards, the Congress of Vienna met and “restored balance of power in Europe".
