The Expanding World (500-1200 CE)

The Fall of the Roman empire left a major power vacuum in the world. The Roman empire had kept order along the Mediterrenean Sea for centuries and without it, Europe entered the Middle Ages. During the Middle Ages in Europe, people stopped learning, reading, and creating culture. This was not the case for the rest of the world, however. The Arab world, Asia, and Africa were all places where culture and learning prospered during this time period.The Regents wants you to know that cool stuff was happening outside of Europe during the Middle Ages!
