Egypt was an ancient river valley civilization found along the Nile River in North Africa. The Nile provided early Egytians with a way to grow their food using irrigation. It would flood and leave behind fertile soil.

Egypt's ruler was known as the Pharoah. The Pharoah was considered a god to the Egyptians. This is called a theocracy.

Egyptians believed in an afterlife and would mummify their bodies to preserve it for eternity. Pharoahs were buried in grand tombs or pyramids.

Egyptians came up with the ideas of astronomy and geography.
